You think you just fell out of a coconut tree?
A publication of analytical essays exploring phenomena within media that spark interesting commentary on our relationship with our digital and physical selves.
The collection of self-written essays examines the depictions and parallels found within media. Some are clear critiques, while others emerge from the complex back-and-forth we all navigate daily as humans in a technological world. Are these two selves, digital and physical one and the same, or do they offer an opportunity to be our truest selves? Which one, then, is the “true” self?
Made in collaboration with Clara Chirila-Rus.
The Sun and Moon
A publication visualizing dataset on folklores around the world
The publication is based on a chapter of an extensive dataset categorizing folklores by thematic similarities and identifying which regions or ethnic groups share them. For this edition, 15 general themes were chosen, each containing approximately 14–18 individual folklores, along with their origin, region, and source (often extracted from books). Themes are introduced with a general title and description, with a folded page in between mapping the regions in which they occur.

Graduation project exploring my relationship with textiles through the use of algae bioyarn (150 × 100 cm).
A tapestry born from my fascination and connection to textiles and childhood memories spent in my grandfather’s embroidery workshop. Textiles are also deeply tied to my Turkish heritage. This relationship hasn’t always been an easy one, but it has followed me throughout my life. Experiencing these traditions through a different lens as a child of an immigrant family it often made me feel like a black sheep. I could only explore these traditions by subverting them and that's also the visual purpose of the biomaterial within this project The tapestry maps a visual translation of this relationship through two panels (past and present) entirely handwoven, with every strand hand-mixed, formed, dried, and connected by me.
CoreCore
A video examining corecore videos and the symbolism and messaging behind them.
Emerging primarily on TikTok, this video style compresses a great deal of context into a short format. By deconstructing this “context collapse” through a visual guide, the work reflects on how much information can be signaled in such a condensed form and how this affects the intended message of a corecore video.
Inter/twiN/eD
A website that allows people to draw with each other in real time.
This personal project was designed for friends to create drawings collaboratively, with live updates to the shared canvas. It was intended as a comfort activity, complete with curated music and a toggle between drawing mode and picture mode. Picture mode allows images from other apps or the user’s gallery to be swiped into the canvas. Inspired by an Instagram mini-trend reminiscent of Cadavre exquis, where drawings are built collaboratively, I developed this project to avoid the image quality loss caused by screenshot exchanges and to make the process more streamlined. The site was designed especially with mobile users in mind.
Out of Bounds
Concept creation for ArtEZ finals, including identity design, catalogue creation, invitations (sent to 250 design studios), promotional materials, merchandise, exhibition mapping, indexing, and spatial design.
Tasked with creating a cohesive and clear identity for our graduating class, we asked ourselves: What did we learn in these last four years, and what do we carry with us after leaving this chapter behind? For us, the answer was pushing our boundaries even further, just as we were encouraged at ArtEZ. This led to the concept “Out of Bounds,” visualized through differently shaped fences opening outward.
Ode aan onkruid
A publication based on interactions and field research in the community gardens of Arnhem, with a focus on weeds.
The publication consists of three elements: quotes from community gardeners collected over time, recipe ideas shared by them using commonly found edible weeds, and a catalogue of weeds identified around the gardens. Together, these elements present an appreciation of the weeds, the gardeners, and their perspectives.
Artifact
A ceramic book sleeve for a collective typography book
The creation of this collective book with fellow students was an experience I deeply valued. I wanted to preserve that feeling in time, imagining how someone might discover this book a thousand years from now. This thought guided my choice of material and the design of the sleeve.
Blind willow sleeping woman
A redesign of Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman, a collection of short stories by Haruki Murakami.
This collaboration focused on reintroducing the essence of the short stories through visual design. Thin, flowy paper was used to represent the dreamlike tone of the stories, with a centerfold highlighting the most reality-detached narratives. Made in collaboration with Leonie Wesseling, Roxana Neacsu, Joelle de Jong.
